Attraction of international labour and companies

With the establishment of ESS and MAX IV in Lund and XFEL in Hamburg Northern Europe will become a centre for a large number of scientists and engineers. This will strengthen Danish companies’ ability to recruit highly skilled workers and make the Capital Region an attractive destination for international development departments. Forecasts show that up to 4,000 scientists will come to Lund and Copenhagen every year for shorter and longer stays to conduct experiments. In addition, a number of companies will use the facilities for tests.

The project will take advantage of the placement of ESS and MAX IV to increase the ability of the Capital Region to attract international scientists and companies. Specifically, the project aims to:

  • Establish a joint research and contact data base to facilitate foreign researcher’s crew and employment in the capital region and highlight the barriers for living in and working on opposite sides of Øresund.
  • Develop information packages about the Capital Region as a research destination targeted researchers and companies.
  • Analyse which physical facilities should be offered to foreign companies that might locate themselves in relation to ESS and MAX IV.
